New York’s summer parades were something I’d never had the pleasure of experiencing. But in June 2017, as well as NYC, I got to witness the bizarre and wonderful Mermaid Parade on Coney Island. I love the diversity and pure unapologetic expression of those marching, alongside the rich and vibrant colours in the summer heat.
